Time difference Malta

Maltese time is the same as in France.

Opening hours Malta

To see / To do Malta

Some of Malta's sites and museums have been brought together under the umbrella of Heritage Malta. Most are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and open from 9am to 5pm. But this may vary between museums and sites (check their websites at the last minute) and according to the season. Generally speaking, everything is closed on December 24, 25, 31, January1 and Good Friday. Groups prefer morning visits, so avoid them if you want to be more relaxed.

Enjoying yourself Malta

In Malta, we don't dine too early or too late. We start at 7:30-8pm, but the meal never lasts long. Going to a restaurant is a serious outing, business lunch at midday, family dinner in the evening. In any case, we won't go past 11pm. In Valletta, many establishments only serve lunch, but the island's good restaurants, open in the evening, are frequented by tourists and Maltese alike, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. And it's often best to make a reservation, especially for the evening meal.

Take a break Malta

To have a drink during the day, accompanied or not by a sweet, you can choose between the kiosks by the sea, the cafeterias or the classic cafés, generally open from 10 am for the most touristic places, earlier if they are also frequented by Maltese people who have breakfast there. For the after hours, it will be necessary to head for the Sliema or St Julian's districts

(To) please yourself Malta

Most stores and shopping centers are open weekdays, from 9am to 1pm and from 4pm to 7pm, although in some tourist areas they may be open until 10pm or even midnight, especially in summer. They are closed on Sundays, public holidays and often Saturday afternoons. Markets tend to open in the morning and close around 1pm. Friday and Saturday mornings are busiest.

Get out Malta

Bars generally close at 1 a.m., but much later in a lively district like Paceville, where they empty around 4 or 5 a.m. If you're going out in the evening, entertainment is at its peak on Fridays and Saturdays. Most nightclubs open at 10pm, and the crowds quickly fill up.
