The marinera is a dance of seduction and coquetry that is practiced mainly along the Peruvian coast. There are several interpretations, but it is here, in Trujillo, the national capital of the marinera, that one will find the mostaficionados. The competition is held every year in the city's Coliseum and is televised. The couples are graded on the execution of the steps and their artistic interpretation. Private parties in town as well.
