A dedicated family business that respects wildlife and nature, a carbon neutral tour

North Sailing is a family-run business that respects wildlife and nature. Its original whale-watching excursion in Húsavík has been the preferred choice of visitors for over 25 years. The excursion is now offered in a carbon-neutral way, on Andvari and Opal electric boats, with minimal disturbance to whales and nature. North Sailing also offers excursions on unique traditional sailing boats and the discovery of the famous puffins. Hot chocolate and cinnamon buns included.

Had a wonder day on the water
Spotted some Puffins and a Blue whale

Really wonderful crew and such a beautiful way to experience Húsavik

Be sure to rug up as it gets extremely cold out in the water

Open boat in the winter time is kind of dangerous. We did not expect that we will be exposed in open air (-13 degrees) for 2 hours boat trip with no cabin!. As a result we all have been frozen and ill after that trip… of course we did not get to see any whale which was one more disappointment on the top.

Sadly we didn’t see any whales on the first day of the whale-season. The staff however was extremely kind and gave nice information. We got extra suits to stay warm and dry. And in the end we received tasty hot cocoa and a delicious home-made cinnamonroll!
