Immerse yourself in the bold, colorful world of Fernand Léger through an exceptional exhibition, orchestrated by the Musée National Fernand Léger in partnership with the DN MADE (Diplôme National des Métiers d'Arts et du Design) specializing in stage costumes at Lycée Les Coteaux in Cannes. From February 24 to May 27, 2024, the museum will be transformed into a veritable fashion show, highlighting a collection of unique costumes inspired by the work of the famous artist.
The Art of Costume: An Innovative Collaboration
This exhibition, entitled "LÉGER DÉFILÉ", is the fruit of two years of intense work by DN MADE SPECTACLE - Costume Design students in collaboration with the museum team. Presented throughout the museum, it offers a fascinating interpretation of Fernand Léger's innovative shapes and colors through textile design.
A Colorful Stroll
At the heart of the exhibition, discover four series of dazzling costumes: extra-large coats with graphic compositions, headdresses and masks inspired by African cosmogony and the spirit of jazz, linen shirts and capes with geometric and abstract motifs. This fusion between the painter's two-dimensional canvas and the fabric enveloping bodies celebrates not only Fernand Léger's art, but also his influence on the performing arts.
An Unmissable Event: The Public Parade
Don't miss the public fashion show, hosted by DN MADE students, on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 7pm, as part of European Museum Night. For a taste of this spectacular event, watch the teaser on our website or explore the National Museums YouTube channel.
Talented curators
This captivating exhibition was conceived by Gaïdig Lemarié, head of cultural partnerships for the Musée National du XXe siècle des Alpes-Maritimes, in collaboration with Magali Passoni-Cartier, lecturer at the Musée National Fernand Léger, and Élisabeth Bastardo, applied arts teacher and coordinator of the DN MADE SPECTACLE - Costume de scène program.
