This summer, immerse yourself in the timeless world of one of cinema's greatest geniuses with the exhibition "The Kid, Charlie Chaplin", running from July 9 to August 29, 2024 at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes. Organized by the Mairie de Cannes as part of the 9th Musée Éphémère du Cinéma, this exhibition, designed by Yves Durand, the creator of Chaplin's World, promises a unique immersion in Chaplin's world.

A celebration of Chaplin's timeless cinema

In 1921, Charlie Chaplin unveiled his very first feature film, The Kid, a deeply moving autobiographical work that brilliantly blends comedy and drama. The film, which tells the touching story of a drifter caring for an orphan, has transcended generations thanks to its universal message of love and resilience in the face of life's difficulties.

The exhibition "The Kid, Charlie Chaplin" invites you to rediscover this masterpiece through an immersive and entertaining presentation. Visitors will be transported to 19th-century London, a world of cobbled lanes and magic lanterns, where they can explore the film's behind-the-scenes themes.

Immerse yourself in the world of The Kid

As you explore the exhibition, you'll discover moving letters from Chaplin's mother, Hannah, as well as fascinating anecdotes about the production of The Kid. An area dedicated to the reconstruction of the film's most memorable scenes allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Charlie Chaplin and The Kid.

The exhibition offers a unique perspective on Chaplin's life and work, highlighting the depth and complexity of his creations. Interactive elements will help visitors better understand Chaplin's challenges and triumphs, from his difficult childhood to his worldwide fame.

Immerse yourself in a colorful, minimalist movie theater, where you can experience the magic of cinema as it was in the early 20th century. The space is specially designed to evoke the atmosphere of early film screenings.

A unique collaboration with the Traverso family

Alongside the main exhibition, a selection of photographs by the Traverso family, famous for their emblematic snapshots of Cannes life, will be presented. These images offer an intimate and historical look at Cannes' landmark events, perfectly complementing the tribute to Chaplin.
