A baroque comedy by Corneille, Le Menteur sheds light on our times with humor, intelligence and finesse. Beyond its well-crafted plot, the author denounces a political context that favors appearances over actions, and impunity over responsibility. Julia Vidit decided to revive this show, which was created in 2017 and whose tour had been halted by the health crisis. The staging, supported by an impressive array of articulated mirrors, provides a strong playing field for the actors. Verses in alexandrine follow one another, driving the story forward with numerous twists and turns. Although written in the 17th century, the play joyfully takes us on a journey towards profound, contemporary questions: how can we distinguish truth from falsehood? Do you have to invent a story to be taken into account? Can truth rhyme with power?
