Since 1992, a small tourist office operates in this hostel of 55 rooms spread in several houses. The main building, with peat roof, is decorated with a Twin Peaks style shooter of Hitchcock's "Psychosis". By entering the restaurant, we're staring at the nose with an impressive number of stuffed animals, including a lynx, an elk to the mighty horns, an Arctic hare, a snow partridge and a wolverine— a great predator. In the living room in the large fireplace, two wooden poles are carved with the sami characters, in the way of a totem. On the side of the terrace, there is a breathtaking view of the fjord at the bottom of the mountain.
By continuing on the E 6, the views are superb on the fjord and the Lyngen Alps to the snow-capped peaks. The Narrows valley of Signaldal with lush vegetation is dominated by the characteristic summits of the Otertind.
