The Crom area is a protected site of nearly 1 000 ha full of wooded land and natural freshwater habitats. He is the rare butterfly refuge and the largest heron colony in Ireland. The visitor centre provides information on the fauna and flora of the area. The castle of Crom is over 350 years old and remains private property that can only be seen from afar.
