AUBERGE URPUMA
Located in Sandillani in the heart of the Cotapata protected area, the typical rustic-style ecotourism hostel in the region has been built in wood, bamboo and other local materials. It consists of a large cabin that accommodates up to 2 people and cabins with two double rooms and bathroom. The restaurant is based on local food from Chairo and La Paz and brought down to the hostel.
Proposed activities. Several excursions are offered to discover the fauna and flora of the region while admiring the many vestiges of the Inca era. For the same excursion, the maximum group is 15 people. A guide accompanies a group of 12 people, beyond other guides.
Minimizing impact. Garbage is sorted according to their origin. Plastic bottles are made to Chairo for their final recycling.
Local population. The hostel belongs to the Community Ecotourism Association Urpuma consisting of 25 families from the Chairo community. Each family has a representative who participates in turn in the activity according to the theme for which he is qualified. 3 fixed persons and 11 guides work in the company; more people in the same community can be added to carry out the work of porting, additional aid or transport.
