GARDEN OF THE GODS (KEAHIKAWELO)
A huge desert plateau of red ochre, dotted with rocks similar to small towers, is the "Garden of the Gods" (garden of the gods). This bewildering lunar landscape, which erosion has shaped for a million years, is at the opposite of a lush garden of Eden. It's the garden of the gods in the Hawaiian mythology, for the simple reason that, according to tradition, it would be the gods themselves who would have shaped these rocks.
Even if the tourists and locals have gone through this since then, bringing their personal touch to the divine painting, adjusting, from there, some stones to their taste, some rocks with the strange shape seem to be there forever… and let it be quite cloudy. You have to visit the site late in the afternoon so that you can admire glowing and degraded hues that are the stones at the time of sunset.
