The week before Easter, religious processions parade through the Spanish streets to commemorate the passion of Christ.
Holy Week (between Lent and Easter) is another tradition deeply rooted in Spanish customs. Everywhere, processions of different brotherhoods bear witness to the Catholic identity of the country, all in a festive atmosphere. They attract thousands of tourists every year. The processions in Castilla y León, several of which have been declared of International Tourist Interest, are worth a visit for their ancient sculptures, made by the hands of great masters. Among them are: Valladolid, Medina de Rioseco, Zamora and Palencia.
