This festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Muslim families come together for a final breaking of the fast.

In Malaysia, this is the name given to the breaking of the fast of the sacred month of Ramadan. Better known as Eid al-Fitr in Arab countries. The celebration begins at nightfall and members of the same family gather to share the last meal of the sacred month. Many dishes are prepared by the women of the household who enjoy them until the end of the night. It is common to keep your door open on this occasion: it is the concept of rumah terbuka or Open House, also observed for the Chinese New Year or the Indian Deepavali.
