For this last meeting of the year 2015, Rennes hosted Caen at Roazhon Park on Friday 11 December. 23,480 spectators attended the game. We were there too! To cheer on the Reds and Blacks, we had a front row seat. But how does an evening in the VIP lounge at the Stade Rennais go? It's customary to arrive a good hour before the start of the match, with kick-off at 8.30pm, so we arrived at 7.30pm. Reception is in the large panoramic lounge which obviously overlooks the stadium. The place is cozy but not stuffy. About thirty hostesses take care of serving the guests of the private boxes with petits fours and champagne. Each meeting is catered differently. That night, pyramids of Monbana chocolates adorned the tables. The chef of La Fontaine aux perles, Rachel Gesbert, had prepared for the occasion skewers of scallops with andouille and potatoes with chorizo. To accompany the various savoury and sweet petits fours, rosé champagne, good beers and soft drinks are offered in open bar service. As soon as the match begins, spectators head to the presidential stands to enjoy the game up close. At half-time, the score is 0-0, back in the panoramic lounge to eat. Second half: Rennes open the scoring with a goal from Quintero in the 62nd minute. Warm atmosphere in the stands. Caen equals at the 79th minute. Despite dominating the game in Rennes, the Red and Black were content with a draw. Back in the panoramic lounge for the third half: the mascot passes by, the prizes are awarded for the draw for the winning prognosis, and little cuties including the delicious macaroons bearing the effigy of the Stade Rennais. Spectators debrief backstage. With friends, colleagues and family, attending a match at the Stade Rennais in the VIP lounge remains a superb experience with great performances and excellent moments of conviviality. And why not exchange a few minutes in the middle of conversations with the honorary president of the Stade Rennais, Alfred Houget? All in all, a beautiful evening!
