Practical information : Going out Ibiza
Timetable
Whether you want to have a drink on the terrace or take to the dancefloors all night long, Ibiza has no shortage of options: it is one of the world's party temples! At any time of the day or night, during the summer season, the white island has a plethora of open bars and discos, not to mention beach parties and other monumental events. Ibiza's clubs start to fill up around 1am.
Budget & Tips
A beer costs between 2 and 3 € in Spanish bars, while the price of cocktails, depending on the place, varies from 6 to 15 €. In discotheques, where the entrance ticket can cost from 20 to 60 €, drinks are more like 10 € for a beer and 12/15 € (or even more) for a cubata (a simple mixture of alcohol and juice such as rum and coke, gin and tonic, etc.). The prices to get into most of the island's nightclubs can make many people cold, but there are a few strategies for finding cheaper ones, or even free ones! The port of Ibiza is full of opportunities. You just have to go there to be harassed by street vendors who offer reduced rates. Some bars advertise this: they offer up to 50% discount on the sole condition of having a drink in their establishment. Free tickets are of course interesting, but they are only valid early in the evening and the drink is not included! You will find them in some shops displaying the signs of the party in their windows; but also on some big beaches (Platja d'en Bossa, Ses Salines...), where the discotheques parade groups of gogos advertising the party with pockets full of tickets to be distributed.
Night transport
In general, it is quite easy to find taxis in the towns of Ibiza, which run until late. On the other hand, as far as the clubs are concerned, most of them being outside the cities, it is not necessarily easy to find a coach to go back to the hotel. It is better to plan ahead: either have your own vehicle (and choose a driver who does not drink), or make an agreement with a taxi to pick you up at a certain time. It is also possible to use the services of the DiscoBus: these buses criss-cross the island, stopping in front of the best dancefloors from the beginning of June to the end of September. There are five routes: Sant Antoni-Ibiza, Platja d'en Bossa-Ibiza, Sant Antoni-Port d'es Torrent, Ibiza-Santa Eulària-es Canar and Sant Antoni-Platja d'en Bossa. The timetables are those of the nightclubs, from midnight to 6.30 or 7am, depending on the route. Information is available at the bus station, where you will be given a small booklet of updated timetables for the season. If you look at this little leaflet, you will immediately see which places are unmissable: Pacha, Privilege, Amnesia, etc. Fare: 3 € per trip. To consult the timetable: www.discobus.es
Age restrictions
The legal drinking age in Spain is 18. The same applies for entering nightclubs.
Smokers
Smoking is not allowed in clubs and entertainment venues in the Balearic Islands. Some establishments are more flexible than others regarding smoking, and in most of them smoking on the terrace is tolerated. The nightclubs all have smoking areas.
