A water sports paradise
The Balearic Islands are a paradise for water sports enthusiasts: sailing, water skiing, scuba diving, jet skis, canoes, stand up paddle, but also more modern disciplines such as flyboard. Ibiza has a wide range of marinas (8 in all). Practically all the schools and nautical centers offer initiation courses (individual or group) as well as weekly packages. In addition, the marine life of the Mediterranean is so beautiful that it would be a shame not to enjoy it. Due to the vastness of the coastal area, you will find diving centers along most of the coastline. In short, wherever you are on the island, there is no shortage of opportunities to exercise while enjoying the sea! You will find everywhere professionals of each discipline offering to rent equipment and giving courses to learn or improve in the practice of such or such sport.
A diving destination
Visibility is usually very good and the numerous spots that the island offers ensure varied discoveries, both in terms of landscape and marine fauna.
Several sites are worth a visit. First of all, we can mention Cova de Ses Llegostes in Cala Gració. Here, we descend into an amazing natural marine limestone cave. The sea water penetrates there creating a kind of interior lake where many species of fish live. Also worth seeing is the wreck Don Pedro, off the port of Ibiza, El Caballo and its two superimposed arches at 25 meters with groupers, moray eels and corbs, or the islet Llado Sud, a small rocky island. In Santa Eulàlia, there are beautiful drop offs with numerous caves, an abundant fauna and even the wreck of a Dutch ship. On Isla Tagomago, the faults shelter morays, conger eels and groupers. Finally, you will have to go for a walk with your flippers to the northwest of the island Es Vedrà to the Sec de la Bota, an underwater mountain that culminates at 2 m from the surface and a base at 35 m depth. The boulders are home to mostella, groupers, conger eels, moray eels and barracudas. As the spot is located offshore, it is also appreciated by tuna and other pelagics.
On land too, there is a choice
Hiking. Ibiza does not limit itself to taking advantage of the sea. In fact, the mildness of the winter, as well as the pleasant temperatures in spring and autumn, make it possible to hike or bike. There are more or less marked itineraries (projects are currently underway to improve the signage on the various roads and footpaths) that allow you to travel the length and breadth of the island
Cycling and mountain biking. Concerning bike trips, there are many rental agencies all over the territory, offering very good equipment and giving good advice. It is possible to organize multi-day excursions with pre-prepared stops and meals
Horseback riding. Despite the impact of tourism, Ibiza still has many places that have not been touched by time: mountains, natural areas, natural parks and charming villages. The splendor of these places, between sea and mountain, can be discovered on horseback. The equestrian tradition is very strong in Ibiza and in the Balearic Islands in general, and almost every resort has an equestrian center offering you the possibility of a horseback ride, adapted to your level.
Golf. Although it is not the most popular sport in Ibiza, there is a very good club 7 km from the capital in Santa Eularia, the Golf Club Ibiza, which offers an 18-hole course and a 9-hole course.
