A celebration in honor of the Mare de Déu del Carme, patron saint of the sea, takes place on July 16 in La Savina and Es Pujols. The Bishop of Ibiza opens the festivities with a mass in Es Pujols, followed by a procession in which the sacred icon of the Virgin is carried to a fishing boat that will take it out to sea. In a moving procession, fishermen from all over the island accompany the Virgin with their boats. In the open sea, a wreath of flowers is offered to the waves, while prayers rise in the silence of the horizon.
