Religious festival very popular in the Northeastern states of the country in honor of the patron saint of Bom Jesus dos Navegantes
This festival is widespread throughout the Nordeste and is held in Penedo (Alagoas), Aracaju, the capital of Sergipe and Salvador. It consists of a procession of thousands of people who follow the statue of the patron saint in boats. In Penedo, a whole cultural programme with concerts, workshops and presentations is held in parallel with the religious festival. In Salvador, this procession starts at the Nossa Senhora da Conceição church and ends at the Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem church. The festival then continues on the beach of Boa Viagem.
