In Taiwan, the bicycle did not steal her nickname of "little queen". While bicycles are widely used in the big cities to get around, Taiwan is world-famous among bicycle enthusiasts for its No. 1 cycle route, which runs all around the island. From Taipei to Yilan, the road is more than 960 kilometres long and can be completed, for the more athletic, in nine days. The most beautiful stages are located along the east coast, mainly between Pingtung and Hualien and between Yilan and Taipei, even if the difference in altitude is important.
