CNIT
Classified as a Historic Monument, the Centre national des industries et des techniques (CNIT) was created in 1958 to host the major popular salons in vogue at the time: Mecanelec, Floralies, Arts ménagers... Its 50 m high vault, spectacular for the time, still a great achievement today, is decorated with a gigantic concrete sail with a record span of 218 m that could cover the Place de la Concorde in Paris ! Restructured several times, the CNIT is now a congress and exhibition centre that also houses several dozen shops and is very popular, especially during the week, when thousands of defence workers visit it. More than sixty years after its inauguration, we are still amazed by the modernity of the building's lines. Many more recent constructions cannot say the same.
