Aramon
From Aramon, from the Quai du Rhône car park, follow the GR®42 (white and red markings) into the village. After 80 meters, at "Aramon - Le Planet", turn right towards "Portail de la Plane d'Oume". Pass in front of the church, through the rue Henri Pitot and then the Quai de la Liberté to reach "Aramon - Le Choisity". Take the time to wander through the picturesque streets of the town. You passed in front of the Saint-Pancrace church: did you notice its façade with its entrance portal, its columns, its statues embedded in niches and its oeil-de-boeuf? Look closely, you will also notice a black band above the side portal: it is a funerary litre painted with the coat of arms of the archdeacon of Fain de Pérault at his death. A statue of the Virgin and Child completes the many details to be observed. Aramon can be surprisingly rich in heritage: the townhouses are legion and all display splendid details that are pleasant to photograph. Don't miss the Maison Natale of the famous hydraulic engineer Henri Pitot. Its particularity lies in the turret from which the scientist observed the sky and the stars. Finally, don't leave Aramon without visiting its castle: the ramparts used to surround it; the 12-metre high wall is still partly visible today. You can also see the stone bridge, located on the site of the old drawbridge, which connects the castle to the magnificent 7-hectare park where you are welcome to stroll. The castle is fabulous because it has belonged to the Sauvan d'Aramon family since 1653. Once you have finished your walk, continue to "La Voie Ferrée".
From "La Voie Ferrée" to Peyrequérode
From there, continue on the GR®42 towards "Portail de la Plane d'Oume". Go through "Croix de Gabure", "Les Rompudes", "Combe de Guibarau" then "Taoule Messe".
At "Portail de la Plane d'Oume", continue on the GR®42 to Peyrequérode via the "Combe du Laurier de Babau". The landscape is full of juniper, pine and holm oak trees. In this direction, the small climbs follow one another to arrive on a platform from where the view stretches to Avignon with the Mot Ventoux in the background, the confluence of the Rhone and the Durance, and well beyond, on a clear day, you will see the Alpilles.Back to Aramon
Leave the GR®42 by continuing on the track on the right to reach "Le rocher pointu" by "La Cabrette". Note the presence of many restored capitelles highlighting the peasant past and Provencal traditions. Be careful, these capitelles are private. Go back to the "Combe du Laurier de Babau", for about 70 meters, then turn left to go back down to Aramon.
Pass through "Les Péroutines" and "Sainte-Suzanne" to reach the "Mas Rouge". Here, turn left along the railway to the place called "Le Moulin de Basso". At the roundabout, turn right to the "Pont d'Aramon", follow the Rhône river to "la Gardette" and turn right to reach your starting point.
