It is the most important traditional holiday (in China as in all Chinese communities around the world) and the most animated Chinese calendar. New Year's Eve or Spring Festival is the equivalent of our Christmas. The Chinese take long holidays (one week) to meet with family, visit their friends… The festivities begin at midnight, on the first day of the first lunar month, in an explosion of fireworks, where you see almost as in full daylight! Pétards, inscriptions on doors, offerings… are the means to hunt bad spirits and welcome the new year. Traveling during Chinese New Year can quickly turn into a nightmare. Aircraft are being attacked by the overseas Chinese, the crowded trains of migrant workers returning home. Once on site, hotels display full and the best tables have been booked for a long time.
