The city sparkles with a thousand and one lanterns, families and friends get together and indulge in delicious mooncakes.
The Mid-Autumn Festival dates back 3,000 years. In those days, people gave thanks to the moon god for the harvest. Today, it's a time for gratitude, a time to gather with family and friends. For a week, Hong Kong lights up with sublime lanterns and vibrates to the sounds of shows such as the dragon dance orchestrated by 300 performers at Tai Hang over 3 days. The festival is also known as the "Moon Cake Festival" for the delicious moon cakes that can be seen all over the city and are customary gifts.
