When to go Lozère ?
Lozère is one of those départements that can be enjoyed all year round. Mende, a prefecture on a human scale, offers a gentle pace of life and cultural events all year round. Elsewhere in the department, the landscapes and relief are ideal for discovering and practicing outdoor activities, in summer and winter alike: skiing, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking... While musical and sporting events provide entertainment month after month.
Two climatic influences for Lozère: oceanic in the north, from Aubrac to Margeride, Mediterranean influences mainly in the south (Cévennes and causses). The omnipresent relief results from the contrasts. In August, the highlands record from 8°C in the morning to an average of 20°C in the afternoon. The valleys (Cévennes, Lot, Tarn) have minimums of around 13°C and maximums in August of around 25°C on average. Rainfall also varies according to altitude and orientation.
