FESTIVAL BÊTES ET SORCIÈRES

Get out the broomsticks, pierce the pumpkins! Around Halloween, every year for about twenty days, around fifty Moselle sites try to dispel the sweet shivers of horror during the Beasts and Witches festival. You can thus get lost in completely theatrical parks (such as the Sainte-Croix Animal Park or Walygator), listen to tales in medieval atmospheres (in Malbrouck or the Saint-Sixte castle) or investigate in terrifying corridors (at the Citadel of Bitche or the Parc Explor Wendel). The programme changes every year and it is not really surprising to see such a festival in the Moselle. Indeed, Halloween finds some of its roots in the East of France. The Rommebootzennaat - which means "the night of the beetroots" in the French language of Lorraine - was a time when children would make faces at beets before lighting them with a candle and putting them everywhere.
