From the airport to the city centre Algarve

To reach the center of Faro, new arrivals have several options: car rental, cab or bus. Cabs cost around €10 during the day. Proximo buses 14 and 16 shuttle you to the center in about 20 minutes.

Public transport Algarve

Regular bus services are available throughout the country, with a wider range of timetables in season. 4 companies serve coastal and inland towns. Eva and Frota Azul offer an economical Passe Turistico, giving unlimited travel for periods of 3 to 7 days.

A railway line runs along the south coast from Faro to Lagos and eastwards to Vila Real. This is a pleasant way to travel if you have time and a flexible schedule, as these regional trains are fairly slow. For example, allow 1h45 between Faro and Lagos.

By car Algarve

Numerous well-known car rental agencies, both local and international, are on hand to meet demand, right from the airport. In general, they are well-rehearsed professionals. Prices are competitive, as competition is fierce. Beware, however, of hidden or forced extras, which can lead to unpleasant surprises on arrival. A little tip: if you're near the Spanish border, don't hesitate to fill up on the other side, where fuel is cheaper.
