Practical information : Move & Laze around Rajasthan
Budget & Tips
There aren't really any free activities or special offers for visiting Rajasthan. But knowing that there's always something going on around the corner, there's nothing like standing by the side of a road or square with a camera and letting yourself be caught by the light and colors.
What's very local
Urban Indians walk to keep fit. Early in the morning or after dinner, you'll find them walking up and down the street below their homes.
Your documents please
You'll be asked for your driver's license if you're renting a motorcycle for a tour, or your passport as a guarantee if you're renting a scooter or motorcycle for a day or two. Officially, an international driving license is now required. Some rental companies ask for it, others do not. It takes at least 3 months to obtain an international driving license in France.
To be booked
If you're planning a safari in Ranthambore National Park, it's best to book well in advance, especially if you're visiting during the high season (October to March). In this case, please contact your hotel.
Main events
In addition to religious festivals, many folk festivals are organized by the Rajasthan Tourist Board, notably in Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Mount Abu.
Tourist traps
You may be stopped on the street by a hawker offering you an Ayurvedic treatment, especially in Udaipur. He'll take you straight to the treatment center. This is often a very small, not very clean store. Inspect it carefully before booking a treatment.
