THE VIRUNGA OR VOLCANO REGION

Virunga forms one of the most interesting volcanic regions in Africa. This volcanic chain cuts the entire width of the Central Central and separates the 2 basins from the Nile and Congo. The main volcanoes between 3 000 m and 4 500 m, in number of eight, are from west to east: Nyamulagira (active), Nyiragongo (active), Mikeno, Karisimbi, Visoke, Sabinio, Gahinga and Muhavura. Alongside these main volcanoes, there are also many craters. The Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira volcanoes, still active, offer in the event of an eruption of very beautiful shows, especially at night.
