A few days before the Nyepi, Melasti is a purification ceremony accompanied by large processions throughout the island.

Celebrated throughout the island a few days before Nyepi (Hindu New Year), Melasti is a purification ceremony accompanied by large processions throughout the island. Effigies and other sacred symbols are carried to temples. The processions then head to the sea to purify themselves. A ceremony not to be missed as the processions organized for the Melasti are impressive. A perfect example of the culture of Hindu rituals, which honors the nickname of Bali: "the Island of Gods". We love it.
