This important 10-day festival is held every 210 days to celebrate the victory of good spirits over evil.
This is a very important festival in Bali. It is held according to the 210-day Pawukon calendar to celebrate the victory of good spirits over evil, and to venerate the ancestral spirits who are summoned. It lasts 10 days, during which rituals and offerings follow one another. The last day is an event in its own right, the Kuningan, which marks the return of the ancestors to their homes. During this period, the streets are covered with Penjor (decorated bamboo poles) set up in front of every house. Please note that many shops are closed on Galungan day.
