Menton as the starting point of your escapades, discover a territory as rich as diverse from the coastline to the peaks of Mount Bego through the villages of Mercantour.
Menton, Riviera, wonders off the beaten track
But before going off the beaten track, it is impossible to miss the true symbol of Menton: the lemon. It is a must that you cannot fail to discover, if not to taste, during your stay!
Try Pasta Piemonte's lemon ravioli and its tangy panettone. And in the plates of the chef Mauro Colagreco who picks it himself in the gardens of the three-starred restaurant, the Mirazur. Grown without chemical treatment and harvested by hand, the IGP Menton lemon is a local pride that you can see blossoming in the garden of the Palace of Carnolès and the orchard of the Casetta, municipal nursery open to visitors during the Lemon Festival. The opportunity for a nice walk on the heights of Garavan to Castellar, along the steep paths.
Finally, between pleasure of the senses and leisure, there is only one step. Because the destination Menton, Riviera & Merveilles, is above all that: visits, meetings, walks, activities for all tastes and all desires! This land of adventure is full of breathtaking panoramas in summer and winter and is home to a natural and cultural heritage of remarkable wealth and diversity. A 4 seasons destination where everything is possible (or almost!). Where to start? If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Menton coastline and discover the destination from the inside, head for the valleys of the Bévéra and Roya rivers..
On board the Train des Merveilles! This is perhaps one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world and certainly an unforgettable family memory that this train offers, criss-crossing the French Alps to the medieval village of Tende. Particularly appreciated for summer escapades, this air-conditioned TER is also pleasant to take in autumn, when the landscape has taken on beautiful colors. On your way, stop at Sospel, an obligatory passage on the "salt road" whose toll bridge built on the banks of the Bévéra torrent dates back to the 13th century; continue your journey to one of the most picturesque villages in the valley: Breil-sur-Roya. End at the village of Tende, whose rustic charm and the Musée des Merveilles, stocked with petroglyphs and ancient objects found in the nearby Vallée des Merveilles, are worth a visit. A picturesque trip in the heart of the valleys of the Mercantour National Park that will seduce young and old
Thirsty for sports? Water sports, winter sports and many others... Treat yourself to an escape to Wonderland on the theme of thrills. On the program: accrobranche, climbing or via ferrata, climbing natural cliffs offering incredible views to the most daring. Or canyoning, rafting, kayaking, in the Roya-Bévéra valleys to refresh and exercise; before taking a well-deserved break in the natural pools. Then, when the good weather gives way to the first snow, go to the hamlet of Casterino for wonderful ski tours, or to the Authion massif to walk on the white paths. More quiet, the hiking trails will allow the less experienced sportsmen to enjoy nature in its pure state and to reach places inaccessible otherwise than on foot or by bike. Sensational landscapes, sometimes even dreamlike like those of the Valley of Wonders, an archaeological treasure that brings us back 2,500 years before our era. Here, more than 40,000 rock engravings are spread out on the rocks of Mount Bego. Classified as a historical monument since 1989, this area represents one of the largest rock engraving sites in Europe! A leap into the past that we will take as an invitation to live fully the present moment

An underwater hike that will not fail to make you aware of the protection of the underwater fauna and flora. Feeling restless? Lace up your shoes and set off on the hiking trails of the Via Julia Augusta, the famous Roman road linking La Turbie to Ventimiglia. During your walk, stop at Beausoleil, a Mecca of Belle Époque architecture, or Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, in the footsteps of Le Corbusier. At your own pace, you will discover with wonder the superb heritage along this ancient road. Don't miss the Trophée d'Auguste, erected in the year 6 B.C. in honor of Octave, nephew of Caesar and future emperor Augustus, the real highlight of this excursion

It is a real invitation to fully immerse yourself in nature and local customs that the inhabitants of the territory will be delighted to share with you during your stops. Following the example of Sébastien Yago, head of the Orgaya agency, who proposes to walk the trails and roads of the territory during hiking trips during which you will be accompanied by a certified guide
