COURTYARD
The Courtyard is a "shopping" gallery in the middle of Dubai's industrial district, nestled between warehouses. It is the crazy and brilliant idea of the architect Dariush Zandi, who for many years worked for the restoration of historical buildings of the city or for the creation of several parks. In 1998, he decided to set up this small oasis of greenery in the heart of what was at the time a desert surrounded by a few warehouses. No less than 20 signs are located there. With its small theater for 70 people, its café and its special atmosphere thanks to the fountains and plants installed along the outside gallery, it has become a landmark for the city's artists. The facades are inspired by those of Egypt, France or even the Dubai of yesteryear revisited by its founder. The whole is harmonious and the place gives off an atmosphere of serenity that seems far from the excitement of Dubai.
