The club was founded in 1974 thanks to the then ruler Sheikh Rashid al Maktoum. In other words, it is an institution in Dubai. The club offers sailing lessons all year round. The season for sailing is mainly from October to the end of April, and it is not uncommon to see dozens of sailing boats on the horizon along the coast of the small emirate. Very active, it organizes races every Friday during the season. The club house houses a restaurant and a café.
