Built in 1939 in the Deira district, Fort Naif was the first police headquarters. It served both as a fortress and a public building for judicial affairs. It was built on a clay base known for its cohesive qualities. The special feature of the fort is its tower, Al-Makbad, so called because it served as a prison. At the beginning of the 20th century, police officers were night guards. They did not carry arms and their main duty was to protect the Emir's palace. The small museum traces the history of the police.
