BOULEVARD - EMIRATES TOWERS
Emirates Towers shopping mall built in 2000 with two much-photographed towers, 309 and 354 metres high.
The Emirates Towers shopping mall has a reputation for being nothing more than a showcase for European luxury... Nonsense! That would be to overlook its architectural beauty. Built in 2000, the two towers, 309 and 354 metres high respectively, are (with good reason) among the most photographed towers in Dubai. Architect Hazel Wong designed two polyhedrons with the base of an equilateral triangle: a symbol indeed! The three sides represent the earth, the sun and the moon. The cylinders at the base and top of each tower echo the symbolism of the circle: eternity. The smaller tower houses a Jumeirah hotel, while the other houses Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's office. Between the two towers, the shopping mall is not just a list of luxury stores. Inside, at the very foot of the UAE Prime Minister's office, are showcases of what the Emirates would like to become in the coming years. Visitors can discover the gas pedal, Dubai future academy, the ministry of possibilities, Dubai, Dubai future labs, Dubai services 2.0, demonstrators of artificial intelligence projects, the crèche of the future or take the escalators to the second floor to see the projects selected by the city. Indeed, Dubai intends to transform itself into a veritable laboratory for experimenting with new technologies and meeting the challenges of tomorrow. To attract a pool of young talent and entrepreneurs, they facilitate the funding of projects submitted each year to the Dubai Future Foundation, created by the government and under the patronage of Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan. For over 5 years, temporary exhibitions have been held at the World Government Summit, attracting entrepreneurs from all over the world, in response to the challenges set by the Dubai Future Foundation. The themes are defined by the committee and cover a range of issues in the fields of education, health, crime prevention and natural resources, such as water. It's impossible to describe everything, as these are temporary exhibitions of projects, ideas and plans, but a glance at them will give you a better understanding of how the country is looking to the future with ambition and optimism.
