When to go Dordogne ?
When to go there? It is very difficult to answer this question, because every season in the Périgord has its own particular charm. Spring in the Green Périgord is a natural enchantment for walks and hikes. Summer is the time for festivals and discoveries. Autumn will seduce you on the wine road and the grape harvest when nature explodes with richness and colors. Winter, in the corner of a stone fireplace, will delight you with its fatty and truffled delights.
The Dordogne has a temperate oceanic climate but it also has some continental influences. The weather is generally quite mild but there are temperature differences of 2° in high season and 10 to 15° in low season between Nontron in the north and Bergerac in the south. The same is true for the sunshine, which is more important in Sarlat to the east than in Ribérac to the west. The rainiest region is that of Nontron which can experience snowy episodes in winter.
