STRÁNOV CASTLE (ZÁMEK)
The current castle, in neo-Renaissance style but whose rebuilding dates back to the 19th century, is built on the site of a 15th century wooden fortress destroyed and replaced by a fortified castle by Jaroš de Sovojovic. Several noble families became owners over the years. In 1917, Joseph Šimonek, president of the firm Škoda and senator, took over the castle. In 1950, during the nationalization, the State took over and transformed the residence into an orphanage. This lasted until 2003, when the Šimonek family returned to their property. The castle, one of the most romantic in the region, has been open to the public since 2004. You can discover several exhibitions of private collections: motorcycles, butterflies, furniture. The view of the surroundings from the top of the tower is breathtaking.
