The descent of the herds to the barn at the end of the summer season is a time of great festivities in the Austrian Alps.

An important time in the Tyrolean calendar is late September-early October, when a slew of agrarian festivities take place to celebrate the return of flocks from alpine pastures. Processions take place, with flower-bedecked flocks carrying pictures, secular or religious accessories and ringing beautiful bells. There are also balls, concerts, food and drink stalls, competitions and games... A true agrarian festival that sets the whole of the German Tyrol ablaze, north and south!
