Arrival by train Tyrol
Getting to Tyrol by train is easy and saves you driving. Major towns are served by companies such as SNCF, ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) and Deutsche Bahn (German Railways). Numerous regional lines also provide excellent service to the valleys and ski resorts. Remember to book in advance to take advantage of low fares.
Public transport Tyrol
Travelling by bus is a simple and really inexpensive solution, but also a little time-consuming and tiring - it's up to you!
Flixbus, for example, offers Paris-Innsbruck round trips from €70. The journey takes at least 16 hours. From Innsbruck, there are several Flixbus connections to South Tyrol: Brixen-Bressanone, Bolzano-Bozen, Merano-Meran, etc.
By car Tyrol
The car is still a very practical way to get to Tyrol. The journey is long, but once you're there, you can move from valley to valley without having to depend on public transport timetables.
To drive on freeways and expressways, you need a vignette. Costs vary according to the type of vehicle and the period of validity of the vignette. For example, for a vehicle with a maximum authorized weight of 3.5 tons, the cost is €9.40 for a 10-day vignette. For more details, visit www.asfinag.at. For some tunnels, you may have to pay a supplement.
Paid parking in town and numerous paid parking lots, including in the resort. If you park just a little outside the city centers, you'll find free parking. Parking is available in most accommodations.
