Day 1: Day 1
Steps: Chambolle-Musigny, Dijon, Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vougeot
Let's start from Fixin, a winegrowing village located 20 minutes from Dijon. Fixin was the first to be awarded the "Côte-de-Nuits-Villages" appellation. Beautiful residences await you, and even a museum dedicated to Napoleon perched in the heart of a wooded park where his statue stands. Also worth seeing, in the nearby hamlet of Fixey, is a superb 12th and 15th century church with glazed tiles. From there, you can go to the neighbouring town of Gevrey-Chambertin. In addition to the numerous estates and all the great wines, you can discover the Combe Lavaux-Jean Rolland nature reserve. Nearby, Chambolle-Musigny awaits you. Its Sainte-Barbe church was built in the 16th century; it has a domed imperial bell tower reminiscent of those in Franche-Comté. Then, you will have to go to Vougeot. Old stones, low walls, historic houses, do not hesitate to stroll through the streets of this village so characteristic of the region, especially those leading to the castle of Clos de Vougeot. A pure marvel and an emblematic monument of the region. Founded by the Cistercian monks, and administered today by the brotherhood of the Knights of Tastevin, you will be able to see in its bosom all the great and beautiful history of the vines and wines of the region. When you leave, you will certainly admire the 50 hectares of vineyards surrounding the château in a completely different light! Although they no longer produce wine, they bear witness to the entire history of Burgundy.
Day 2: Day 2
Steps: Brazey-En-Plaine, Fixin, Nuits-Saint-Georges
Continue south: a few minutes away, you will pass through Vosne-Romanée, then arrive in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Do you realise that from your starting point in Fixin you have only travelled about fifteen kilometres? In short, run to discover the " Cassissium ", a museum dedicated to one of the emblems of the Côte-d'Or: the blackcurrant. And don't forget "L'Imaginarium " which offers a fun way to discover great wines. You will start with a sound and light show that will retrace the history of the vines and the winegrowers, then a specific tour will help you to get to know sparkling wines better through amusing workshops. To conclude your tour, all that remains is to head east. To Saint-Nicolas-lès-Citeaux, where you will find one of the jewels of the Côte-d'Or (and of Burgundy as a whole), the Abbey of Cîteaux. In the Middle Ages, the monks who built it also contributed to the development of the vineyards. Also worth seeing is the vast forest that stretches fromAgencourt in the west to the Canal de Bourgogne in the east, near Brazey-en-Plaine.
