How to get there - Carnac
Saint-Cado, the Ria of Étel and oyster farming
Steps: Quiberon
Start your journey with a postcard landscape famous throughout the world: the Ria d'Étel, the island of Saint-Cado and its small house with blue shutters on its islet of Nichtarguér. This little house built by the oyster park keeper in 1894 and formerly surrounded by oyster beds testifies to the historical importance of this activity, still very present in the Ria. Perhaps you can take advantage of this opportunity to visit one of these farms and even try your hand at the work of an oyster farmer!
Then head to the end of the Quiberon peninsula and its wild coast! With your hair in the wind, admire these steep granite cliffs over 8 km... A breathtaking landscape, reminding the geological origins of this landscape, formed millions of years ago!
Finally, join the charming seaside resort of Carnac, where many restaurants will welcome you for a feast of buckwheat pancakes and a dessert with salted butter caramel..
The island of Gavrinis and its megaliths
Steps: Vannes
Once in Carnac, in search of the origins of Morbihan, how not to go and explore the alignments of menhirs? Let your imagination wander on the history of these megaliths, a subject that has not finished spilling ink! And to stay in the theme, go directly to the heart of the Gulf of Morbihan, and more precisely on the island of Gavrinis. In a magnificent landscape, you will discover a strange mound of stones, hollowed out of corridors covered with rupestral engravings... Thismysterious cairn will come to feed your curiosity!
To get closer to the more recent history, discover the peninsula of Rhuys and its famous castle of Suscinio, residence of the Dukes of Brittany built at the end of the Middle Ages, and where a resident would remain: a nice ghost... It is with stars in your eyes that you will end the day in the medieval city of Vannes, current prefecture of Morbihan.
The country of the Rohan, lords of the Duchy of Brittany
Steps: Rohan
This day is dedicated to the history of the Rohan family, one of the most powerful in the Duchy of Brittany. An appointment not to be missed that leads you inland to the castle of Josselin, sumptuous residence of this family for a thousand years, renovated in the 19th century by Josselin de Rohan. During your exploration, you will certainly see many other buildings (chapels, manor houses...), vestiges of this family's fortune.
Then travel to the 19th century in Pontivy (formerly "Napoleonville"). Napoleon's ambition was to transform this city into a military and commercial center. You can then follow the Canal du Blavet, built at this period, to reach Lorient!
