How to get there - Santo Domingo

Day 1: Arrival in Santo Domingo

Steps: Santo Domingo

The capital concentrates most of the cultural heritage of the country. The morning is dedicated to the visit of theAlcazar de Colón, Diego Colón's former residence converted into a museum, and then to the Casa de Nicolas de Ovando. In the afternoon, visit the Catedral Santa María la menor primada de América, the oldest in the Americas. Finally: terrace in a café in Parque Colón.

Day 2: Santo Domingo, Faro a Colón and old town

Steps: Santo Domingo

Leaving one of the charming hotels in the center, visit in the morning the imposing Faro a Colón in the east of the city, built to the glory of Christopher Columbus. Then head to the Plaza de la Cultura to visit the Dominican Man Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Modern Art Museum. At the end of the day, stroll down Calle Conde, then have dinner in Plaza España, overlooking the Alcazar.

Day 3

Day 3: Santo Domingo, Chinatown and bachata

On our third and last day in the capital, we'll lose ourselves in the streets of the colonial city, discovering architectural treasures in every nook and cranny, then visit Chinatown. Afterwards, a stroll in the Botanical Gardens to the north of the city, in the shade of tall trees... As night falls, we'll be dancing bachata in the capital's best fashionable discos.

Day 4: Boca Chica

Steps: Boca Chica

Heading east: we will go by bus to Boca Chica (1 hour) to taste seafood before diving in the turquoise waters of the natural pools of the city. On the way back, stop at Los Tres Ojos. Take a guide to fully appreciate the coolness of this cave with three (actually four) small pools of azure water where legends mingle with reality.

Day 5: La Romana

Steps: La Romana

The next day, after leaving the capital, we will head east again to La Romana (2 hours) to visit the famous Cueva de las Maravillas in order to learn more about the culture of the Tainos, original inhabitants of the island before the arrival of the colonists... We will take advantage of it to eat a piece in one of the numerous restaurants that the city counts.

Day 6: San Pedro de Macorís and Malecón of the capital

Steps: San Pedro De Macorís

Last visit of the southeast coast: San Pedro de Macorís (1h). We will discover the neoclassical architecture of the second largest city of the country, founded in 1870. Back in the capital, stroll along the Malecón, the place where people go to parties, for a beer or simply for a sunset...
