How to get there - Lyon
Southern Burgundy / Beaujolais
Steps: Villié-Morgon
Leaving Lyon, which will be the epicenter of our route, let's first head north towards Mâcon. At the foot of the Roche de Solutré lies Burgundy's southernmost vineyard. This is the kingdom of the Chardonnay grape, which produces superb white wines to be tasted in the cellars. From Saint-Amour, we gently descend towards Lyon, winding our way through the famous 10 crus of Beaujolais. Pass by the summit of Mont Brouilly to admire the scenery. Wine tourism, road book in hand, in the 10 Châteaux of Beaujolais. Book an overnight stay in a real wine barrel at Villié-Morgon.
Bugey vineyards
Steps: Lyon
From Lyon, this day will be dedicated to a more confidential vineyard, the Bugey. To the east, towards the Jura mountains, the landscapes are more rugged. Waterfalls, lakes, valleys, plateaus, the visitors will have their eyes and taste buds full of it. Discover the Cerdon vineyards on steep slopes. Still AOC Bugey white, red or rosé wines and sparkling white and rosé wines. Lunch on the shores of Lake Nantua. Return along the Rhône to Belley to discover another wine-producing sector, then on the right bank of the river towards Montagnieu. Return to Lyon.
The Lyonnais hillsides
Steps: Thurins
This is the vineyard closest to Lyon, since part of its territory is part of the metropolitan area. Head south-west to Brignais, gateway to the Coteaux du Lyonnais. A veritable mosaic of terroirs that we'll discover on our way up to the borders of Beaujolais. First stop in Taluyers at Domaine Prapin, committed to organic farming. Lunch in Thurins or Chaponost. At Marcy-l'Etoile, branch off towards Lentilly, Sain Bel, Savigny and Fleurieux-sur-l'Arbresle. The day ends gently on the slopes of the Monts d'Or, another Coteaux du Lyonnais terroir.
