How to get there - Amiens
Its heritage
Once you've settled in at home, take advantage of the opportunity to explore the city at your leisure. Don't hesitate to book a guided tour through the tourist office to better understand the history of its splendid cathedral, the largest in France, as well as that of its emblematic neighborhoods, such as the Saint-Leu district with its many colorful old houses. Then head for one of Amiens' green lungs, the Parc Saint-Pierre, with its many summer activities for families (various games, zip-line...). After a good meal, to round off the day in summer or at Christmas, finish off with a visit to the cathedral to admire a splendid colorful mapping show, Chroma.
Its hortillonnages
Steps: Amiens
This day will be devoted to the Hortillonnages. These ancient marshes were once used for market gardening. Today, they are a tremendous asset to the city, helping to make it a unique slow tourism destination. Today, there are only a dozen or so market gardeners still working the marshes, but they remain a must-see. For your day out, you can take advantage of the different ways to visit the Hortillonnages. On foot or by bike, following the educational trail and the towpath. The best way to discover the beauty of the area is probably by boat. Here too, you can choose between a self-guided tour or a 45-minute guided tour (departing from the pier). From late May to mid-October, you can also rent a boat from the Port à Fumier to take in the International Garden Festival.
