How to get there - Stockholm

Arrival in Stockholm

Finnhamn.

Steps: Stockholm

Arriving in Stockholm, the city itself is already an archipelago.

Labyrinth off the capital

Steps: Sandhamn

Departure by boat (departure in front of the royal castle) to reach a multitude of islands that form a real labyrinth off the capital. We recommend the wild Finnhamn, the rich Sandhamn or the small and charming Grinda. Ask for the archipelago's tourist card, which allows you to travel by boat in an unlimited way for a few days between all these islands.

Day 3

To each his own island

Façades de Gamla Stan.

In each small island it is possible to land. Hotels, youth hostels and chalets for rent make it possible to sleep in this paradise of rocks polished by millennia. Thanks to the Skärgårdsmak project, gastronomy is also in the spotlight in the archipelago, with a chain of restaurants that offer a cuisine based on tasty local products. A multitude of activities are possible through its islets, most of which are uninhabited and cut off from the mainland by ice for most of the winter.

Coastal city and Baltic Sea

Le château de Borgholm.

Steps: Norrköping

One leaves Stockholm by E4, direction Norrköping (a pause can be repairing there), where one forks towards the coast while following E22. Direction Kalmar, charming of coastal city near the island of Öland to which an immense bridge of 7 km leads.

On the other side of the bridge

Maisons en bois de Karlskrona.

Steps: Borgholm

There is plenty of time to take a look at the Baltic Sea... There are beautiful white sandy beaches, many campsites, a 40 km long steppe and the largest deciduous forest in the country. We will make a detour by the natural reserve of Halltorp and a stopover in Borgholm, the biggest city of the island, where we can see the ruins of a royal castle.

Karlskrona, a city listed as a World Heritage Site

Château de Vittskövle.

Steps: Karlskrona

We continue to follow the coast towards the south, until Karlskrona, city registered with the heritage of humanity for the insular situation of its downtown, and especially for the conservation of its infrastructures of maritime city warrior. We can see the old arsenal, the large square with its rounded German church, and its small islands planted with fishermen's houses where only the natives of the city have the right to live... A small bicycle ride in the islands of the archipelago is recommended, as well as the passage by the two forts (Kungsholm and Drottningholm) which guard the entrance of the bay and in front of which the powerful fleet of Napoleon turned back.

Places of interest : GRAND-PLACE (STORTORGET) VIEIL ARSENAL (GAMLA VARVET)

Discovery of the little Paris

Steps: Kristianstad

Always by following the E22, we pass Kristianstad, the "small Paris" with its paved streets and its sympathetic place to dive towards the south by the road 19, and to join Ystad, small village where a stop by the beaches is obligatory. Dunes and fine sand are on the program.

Day 8

A bridge between two countries

Helsingborg.

Going up the west coast along the North Sea, we will stop in Malmö, where there is no lack of points of interest: the castle, the new Västra Hamnen district (with its very modern architecture), the charm of its small squares and its Danish houses, the pedestrian center, a shopping paradise, and finally the great Øresund bridge which links the city to Denmark.

In the fortress, a dungeon

Statue de Poséidon de Carl Willes à Göteborg.

Steps: Helsingborg

Next stop is Helsinborg, 90 km north of Malmö, to see the remains of its fortress, a keep that dominates the bay and that has long witnessed wars and bitter sea battles against the Danes. A stop at the ultra-modern House of Culture can also be interesting. There are beautiful beaches here, as you leave the city to the north, where you can take long walks (there are no private beaches in Sweden, so there is nothing to stop you from following the coastline continuously).

Places of interest : MAISON DE LA CULTURE (DUNKERS KULTURHUS)
