Arrival in Windhoek
Steps: Windhoek
Final formalities in Windhoek, the capital, and final pre-trip shopping. Pick-up of your rental vehicle. Accommodation in one of the city's intimate hotels. Don't miss Joe's Beerhouse, where you can sample a local beer and sample the region's game (oryx, crocodile, zebra, kudu...). The offbeat, safari-themed ambience and decor of the place make it a must for getting into the swing of things.
Désert Desert: only in the world
Departure early in the morning towards the dunes of Du. Take about 6 hours of road. Horseback riding for a first approach to the magnificent frame in which you will be immersed, before sipping a cocktail at sunset. Choose from one of the exclusive addresses where you will dine with candlelight and spend a night with the beautiful star in a comfortable bed on the terrace of your bungalow. Unforgettable.
The enchanting landscapes of Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei
Steps: Sesriem - Dunes De Sossusvlei
Discover the famous Dead Vlei dry lake, a white clay basin dotted with dead trees and surrounded by ochre-coloured dunes. A must-see in Namibia. At Sossusvlei, you can climb the highest dunes in the world (over 300 m). The view from the top of the dunes is breathtaking. The Sesriem canyon is also a great place for hiking.
Places of interest : CANYON DE SESRIEM
The Atlantic coast, feet in the water
Steps: Swakopmund
To reach the small town of Swakopmund, on the Atlantic coast (approx. 5h30 drive), you'll pass through a wide variety of desert landscapes. Swakopmund remains a seaside town with an astonishing atmosphere, a base for numerous excursions, and... the place to gorge yourself on oysters and seafood!
Walvis Bay: kayaking, sandboarding or hot-air ballooning?
Steps: Sandwich Harbour
Kayak to meet the sea lions and pelicans that live in their thousands on the shores of Walvis Bay. Introduction to sandboarding or rent a quad bike for an exhilarating experience in the Swakopmund dunes. Excursion to Sandwich Harbor and lunch on top of the dunes overlooking the ocean. Another option: a hot-air balloon flight over the Sesriem Desert. The choice is yours.
Volcanoes, mountains and plains of Damaraland
Steps: Twyfelfontein
Allow around 6 hours' drive to reach the Damaraland region. Possible stopover at Cape Cross. In addition to its varied landscapes, Damaraland is also home to the last remaining desert elephants. The Twyfelfontein site with its rock paintings is unique. For the night, here again, a few well-guarded addresses offer luxurious tents overlooking sumptuous landscapes that will leave you with fond memories.
The Etosha animal park, as close as possible to wildlife
Steps: Etosha National Park
Leaving early, you will reach Etosha National Park in the middle of the morning (about 4 hours by car). To find accommodation, choose from the campsites within the park (Okaukuejo, Halali or Namutoni). Choose a photo safari at dawn or at the end of the day in a 4x4 with a guide, for a better understanding of the fauna and flora, on the fringes of the most travelled paths.
Etosha, second day of safari
A second day allows you to explore the park in complete freedom. You'll experience the thrill of observing a host of wildlife species living in harmony with their natural environment.
