How to get there - Faro
Arrival in Faro
Steps: Faro
Visit of the old town. Immediately discover the Ria Formosa nature reserve. In the afternoon, swimming and sunbathing on Ilha Déserta. If you are lucky you will admire rare bird species.

Direction Olhão
Steps: Ilha Da Armona
In the morning, stroll through its old streets, discover its atypical architecture and the lively atmosphere of its fish market. Olhão is the Algarve's biggest fishing port. You'll find the best fish in the region here. Then take a boat to the , enjoy its beautiful beaches and spend the night away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland.
Time to surf
Steps: Tavira
In the morning, kitesurfers and windsurfers will be delighted. Reach Olhão and head for Tavira, admiring the beauty of the shores of the Ria Formosa. In the afternoon, visit the "city of a thousand and one churches": Tavira. As night falls, stroll along the banks of the Rio Gilão and cross its pretty bridges.
Castro Marim
Steps: Castro Marim
In the direction of the Spanish border, follow the N125 to Castro Marim. Visit this picturesque village with its imposing fortifications and the breathtaking view from the top of its castle. Take the road to Alcoutim, and relax on the banks of the river.
Getaway in Spain
Cycle or kayak along the river to Foz de Odeleite. Stop off in villages such as Alamo. Eat along the river in Guerreiros do Rio before crossing the border into Spain.
Loulé

Drive to Loulé and visit its narrow streets and artisan workshops. Take an excursion to the Serra do Caldeirão and hike Rocha da Pena in the afternoon. In the evening, spend the night in the typical Algarvian village ofAlte or in Salir.
Silves and Portimão

Visit the small village of Silves, a historic town with narrow streets and a splendid, well-preserved castle. Continue towards Portimão and spend the rest of the day on the beach of Praia da Rocha, enjoying the nightlife.
Beaches and sunsets
Steps: Lagos
Heading for Cape St. Vincent, drive to Lagos. Visit the town in the morning and walk to Ponta de Piedade to discover its hidden beaches. In the late afternoon, drive to Cape St. Vincent, just in time to admire the splendid sunset over the tip of the most south-westerly point in Europe. Spend the night in Sagres.
The ochre cliffs

In the morning, visit Sagres and the fortress where Henry the Navigator ended his life. After a hearty lunch, swim at the magnificent Beliche beach, with its ochre-coloured cliffs. Beware, it can be very windy.

Do part of the Via Algarviana hiking trail from Cap Saint-Vincent to Alcoutim. In the evening, join Carrapateira along the fabulous and wild Costa Vicentina.
Farniente

Relaxation day, swimming on Bordeira beach surrounded by its grandiose dunes. For the more courageous, it's the perfect place to take a surfing lesson. At the end of the day, head for the charming village ofAljezur.
Lush vegetation and typical cuisine

Stay in Aljezur. Discover the Monchique region, with its lush hills and typical gastronomy. Its medicinal baths are ideal for a moment of relaxation.
The Vicentine coast

Lodging in Aljezur. Continue along the Vicentine coast to the Alentejo border, and don't miss the typical village of Odeceixe, with its white houses and orange roofs.
Towards Alentejo

Stay in Aljezur. For the more curious, try the adventure even further north to Zambujeira do Mar and Vila Nova do Mil Fontes in Alentejo.
