How to get there - Montagne Pelée

North - Mount Pelée

Église de Fonds-Saint-Denis.

Steps: Morne-Rouge

A must, the ascent of Mount Pelee can be done by several trails of different levels. From Le Morne-Rouge, the Aileron trail (6 hours round trip, average level) offers magnificent panoramas. By Le Prêcheur (6h one way, medium/difficult level), you will have the opportunity to observe still tangible traces of the 1902 eruption.

Places of interest : MONTAGNE PELÉE

North - Slave canal

Steps: Fonds-Saint-Denis

Heading down towards the east coast, the area around Fonds-Saint-Denis is full of interesting hikes. Easier, but to be avoided if you suffer from vertigo, the Canal des Esclaves (4h round trip, easy level) follows the course of the Canal de Beauregard, with beautiful panoramic views of the Pitons du Carbet.

Day 3

North - Pitons du Carbet

Plage de Tartane.

More challenging, along the Route de la Trace, the ascent of the Pitons du Carbet (8h round trip, difficult level) takes you into the rainforest. But be careful! This is a difficult hike, with many changes in altitude, as the six pitons stretch over 16 km and sometimes reach heights of 1,000 m.

La Caravelle peninsula.

Plage des Anses d'Arlet.

Steps: Tartane

One day will be enough for you to discover the natural beauties of the La Caravelle reserve. The large or small trail is largely shaded and easy to level. The small path (about 2 hours) winds between the mangrove swamp and the dry forest through Dubuc Castle. The long trail (about 4 hours) reaches the lighthouse of La Caravelle and allows you to enjoy very beautiful views of the Baie du Trésor. Be careful, some features are in full sunlight: provide enough water.

Places of interest : CHÂTEAU DUBUC ET SON MICRO-MUSÉE

South - The Anses d'Arlet trail

Steps: Sainte-Anne

Leave the mountains to reach the beaches. The Anses d'Arlet trail (6h, easy level) will allow you to walk around the peninsula of Sainte-Anne and discover its beaches and landscapes.

Day 6

South - La Trace des Caps

Still in the south of the island, but this time on the Atlantic side, the Trace des Caps hike is one of the most picturesque, and can be done on foot or by bike, in one or more stages.
