Visit Helsinki
Steps: Helsinki
The city is full of museums and there are many urban walks. The more sporty can explore the city by bicycle in summer on the many cycle paths inHelsinki and in the parks, or on the cross-country ski trails in winter. Those who like cultural visits can immerse themselves in the city by bus (even tourist buses) or by tram (3B or 3T). After the market square, Kauppatori, and the Senate square dominated by the Lutheran cathedral, a visit to the Kiasma museum allows you to discover the audacity of the Finns in terms of contemporary art. Finnish history will hold no secrets for you after a visit to the National Museum (Kansallismuseo on Mannerheimintie). In the evening, don't hesitate to book tickets for the opera or, depending on your taste, for an ice hockey match at the HIFK or Jokerit stadium, two Helsinki clubs.

Escapade on the fortress island of Suomenlinna
Steps: Lappeenranta
It takes two days to visit the city, especially to visit the unavoidable island-fortress of Suomenlinna. This is a particularly interesting tour, provided you are in Finland in good weather, because in the middle of winter, visits are complicated by snow and some museums are closed. You will then have a picnic on one of the beaches (where you can also swim) with a view of the capital or the archipelago. Back in Helsinki, visit the nearby Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral. In the evening, thrill-seekers can visit the Linnanmäki amusement park. Take some time to check the bus timetable to Lappeenranta. Also try to book a cottage(mökki) for the following days.

Endless lakes in Lappeenranta
Depart in the morning for Lappeenranta, 225 km northeast of Helsinki (minimum 3.5 hours by bus), to discover the Finland of lakes. Embark as early as possible for a few hours cruise on Lake Saimaa, the largest of Finland's 190,000 lakes. You will discover one of the most spectacular lake systems in Europe, very characteristic of the country. The fortress of Lappeenranta with its cobbled streets, museums and old houses is also worth a visit.
Night in mökki (chalet)
Steps: Porvoo
Try to rent a mökki with a sauna on the edge of a lake, rent a bike or a canoe from the Finnish tourist office and spend the night enjoying the peace and solitude, a very Finnish pleasure... Swimming in the lake before a good sauna to warm up, and fishing on board the canoe to grill your fish in the evening on the barbecue! After this first contact with the Finnish nature, direction Porvoo.
Picturesque town of Porvoo
Steps: Porvoo
The second oldest town in Finland and wonderfully preserved, Porvoo is well worth a visit for its ancient church, old town, winding cobbled streets and red wooden houses. Porvoo also has many museums including the Runeberg, and Edelfelt-Vallgren. Go to Helsinki on a boat cruise such as the Runeberg (check the timetable at the tourist office). The capital's archipelago is indeed beautiful.
