How to get there - Kyoto
Tokyo
Arrival at Tokyo Narita Airport. Rather quiet day strolling around the Imperial Palace. It's ideal for a first day and doesn't take long. On the way back, pass through Shinbashi and dine in one of the many izakaya where employees gather in the evenings to eat and drink after work.
Tokyo
Visit Asakusa and its covered arcades brimming with small shops. Short bus trip on the Sumida River. Return to Ginza, with its theaters and bars.
Mount Fuji
2 hours from Tokyo, and, more specifically, Kawaguchiko. The area is one of the country's many spas. Short excursion and visit to Mount Fuji National Park.
Kyoto
Steps: Kyoto
Arrival in Kyoto. Visit Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, Ginkaku-ji, the Silver Palace, walk down the Philosophers' Path to the Imperial Palace and on to Nanzen-ji temple. It all takes a good day. In the evening, dinner in the superb traditional district of Gion.

Kyoto - Nara
Steps: Ōsaka
Morning visit to Kiyomizu-dera temple, stroll through Kyoto's typical shopping streets. Visit Fushimi-inari and its countless torii ( Shinto portals). Departure for Nara and visits to Todaiji temple (with its huge wooden Buddha statue) and Kasuga shrine. Transfer to for an evening of okonomiyaki (pancakes) and takoyaki (flour dumplings cooked with octopus).

Ōsaka
Visit Japan's gastronomic capital by boat on the Tombori River to the port of Nakanoshima for lunch. The afternoon is devoted to a visit to the castle, the Kaiyukan, one of the world's largest aquariums, or the Yamazaki whisky distillery. Free tour and tasting. In the evening, enjoy yourself in the lively Minami district. Return to Tokyo.
