Day trip to Alexandria from Cairo

Steps: Alexandrie

The tour begins with the catacombs of Kom el Shoufaga, a place that bears witness to the alliance between Egyptian and Greek art. Then on to the Pompey Column, the site of the Serapium where the cult of the god Apis took place. You'll be able to admire the Roman Theatre from the outside, giving you an insight into its architecture.

Next, the tour takes you to the Bibliothéca Alexandrina (Library of Alexandria), a building of unique architecture built in 2002. You can explore its various museums and its precious manuscripts room. Please note that the library is closed on Fridays.


Your itinerary continues with the Qaitbay citadel, built on the site of Alexandria's famous lighthouse. You can admire it from the outside, or choose to visit it from the inside.


Don't forget to bring your own picnic or have lunch in one of the seaside restaurants. Your specialist guide, with the help of the driver, will take you along the corniche, where you'll stop to visit the Royal Jewelry Museum of the former royal family of King Mohamed Ali. Finally, you can take a quick tour of Montazah and the gardens of King Farouk, the last king of Egypt.
